Well I over-estimated
Review will be up when I get to it. Sorry.
Okay, I'm gonna be restarting this beast. Can't promise regular posts, but stay tooned ;-) for the occassional book review, bit of library cataloging practice, chunk of "wisdom" and lengthy soapbox diatribe (these items are not mutually exclusive, and my be combined strictly at my whim).
So, in today's weekly session on RDA, our head of cataloging introduced WEMI (Work, Expression, Manifestation and Item) as a mnemonic to remember the FRBR levels. Having spent so long working with FRBR for Serials, I, of course, added Super-record, making the much more entertaining SWEMI (swee-mee).
Okay, what have I been doing in the 7 months since I posted to this friggin' thing?
Haven't posted here for a while- busy as shit. Most of my few readers have probably heard about it by now (and possibly snickered at the geeks), but Gary Gygax, the Father of the Role-playing game died Tuesday.
and fans of the Hammer Films page... This is... well... truly messed up...
And wants to give a poor starving librarian a gift...

Well, since I'm outta things to steal... er... I mean borrow... off other blogs, think I'll be tossin' out some music vids. Here's a Boondock Saints music vid, using Flogging Molly's "The Likes of You Again".
Segment that was done for charity.
A response to Thou Shalt Always Kill. Try to get this fucker outta yer head...
iss da whole ting... Unfortunately he repeats the intro on each part, but enjoy.
before I head off to a conference.
Normally don't like Seinfeld. Watched a lot of it, though, as Wifee loves it. This one's worth sharing, though.
Amusing punk vid run across on ScrewTube...
This is just mint. Ya gotta listen the whole way through it.
July 31 was the 35th anniversary of Operation Motorman, which ended the no-go autonomous zones of Free Derry and the New Lodge area of Belfast. It was during this operation that 15 year old Daniel Hegarty, a civilian, and 19 year old Seamus Bradley, an IRA volunteer, were killed by the British forces. So here's to remembering that brief three year period when there were free zones in Northern Ireland. Considering the special powers that Gypo Gerry has allowed the PSNI and British forces of Operation Helvetica to be granted, it won't happen again.
I've stolen this blog entry from Nodwick.com. Here's a video for "a commercial proposal from the Muppets of 1966 to shill for La Choy Chow Mein". It's hilarious.
Usually I try not to post a vid for the same thing twice, but this new Code Monkey vid uses a great anime (Black Heaven) that really fits. Great job, hinesward08. BTW, here's the info on the vid itself:
okay, one (enjoy, Mark). It's an animated Dr. Who, on YouTube, that amazingly enough is actually pretty good. Seems to be several of them, too. Alas, I have to do my homework here on the job, so I can't watch 'em right now...
in Tokyo, at least, and Star Wars never left. Glad that trip is delayed for a while...
covered in Japanese. Seriously, though, this chick could rock... then she got married, had a kid, and started doing torch songs. ...sigh...
Here's the Timelords (AKA KLF) doin' Doctorin' the TARDIS. Original promo vid put out in '89.
Stolen from another blog (DorkTower- here) for yer watchin' amusement, here's the Jam doin' Going Underground. So old it doesn't even bring back memories for me, but a great tune. Definitely better than anything the hippies did, or that damn disco shit.
For those of you who remember cartoons in the 80s, they're making a live action Thundercats movie. Whay? Well, I really have no clue, since there are far more amusing bad cartoons out there that could be done. The chick wasn't even hot, not even in that weird furry way. But here's a warning as to what might possibly be coming to the big screen in yer town
For those Irishmen... Oh, Hi, Megan... among us who have forgotten that they're Irish, and not, say, French or some such.
For those of you who miss the old days of punk e-zines on crappy paper that left ink all over ya, here's an archive of PDF versions of old Maximumrocknroll, Flipside, Suburban Voice, and HeartattaCk punk zines. Minus the ink stains, of course.
had he not gotten a whole state to play with...
Iggy's 60. Here's a vid to celebrate
Monday's the 20th anniversary of the Loughall Massacre. Yeah, yeah, they rammed a digger full of explosives into an RUC station (probably while they were arguing over who got the goat first and which pretty little dress it should be wearing), but nobody deserved to have that many bullets pumped into them in the middle of the street. RIP, comrades. Jim, hope yer havin' a blast up there.
For those of you who miss the 80s and David Hasslehoff (c'mon, there's gotta be one somewhere), here's a nifty clip from an Italian film vaguely translated as Stellar Crash Beyond the Third Dimension. I had girlfirends back then who didn't wear this much eye makeup (okay, not many, but who's counting). Enjoy
and probably deservedly so, 1994 Roger Corman version of the Fantastic Four. Think about this one the next time you bitch about the latest multi-million dollar big studio version...
Okay, the guy's gone a little disco bonkers today. Here's some Star Wars themed disco from his blog... you can thank him for the last one, too
passionately. Something about growing up in the late 70s, early 80s, when Disco Duck was considered a cool single for kids. That said, this was too amusing not to share
Now broken up, but this was globe, from Japan. Tune is Anytime Smokin' Cigarette.
Okay, I'd have to be seriously friggin' altered to get excited about this. Here's a new "project to develop technologies and methodologies for human-robot interaction that incorporate the rhythmic properties of human interactive behavior".
It's the 19th anniversary of the Milltown Cemetery attack. After the Brits finally got around to returning the bodies of the Gibraltar 3 to Belfast, a funeral was set for today. There were a lot of people there, as is the norm for a martyr's funeral.
While I don't advocate giving booze to animals, ones that eat fermented fruit are hilarious.
Even though I've already made my post on Operation Flavius, this vid is too good not to share. Cheers ártybhoy. Best I've seen.
Missed the anniversary by 2 days, but 19 years ago on March 6 three volunteers were getting blown away on Gibraltar by the SAS. They had no weapons, but the Brits riddled 'em anyway. Here's a tribute, with views from Long Kesh and the Hunger Strike. Upthera!
I was once kicked out of a beer gathering for making rude sexual jokes about this movie while it was playing
