Burnt's blog thing

As a break from Kuhn, I was browsing through the latest issue of D-Lib Magazine (yeah, I know, some break). Anywho, for you digitizers, techies and those interested in some of the tech details of digital image creation, TASI has a blog called Lightbox, which posts a range of topics from Canon's consideration of dropping their film camera line to the OCLC/RLG merger to Kodak's new archival CD/DVD line. It's not as technical as it sounds through, and might be worth a browse for pretty much anybody in the Library Science field.

It can be found at http://www.tasi.ac.uk/blog/

Enjoy

Well, assignment week one down. Did everything but the Scout Portal. Anybody seen instructions on this yet?

Feeling much less spastic. Finally figured out that if I boil it down to what I have to do, do it, finish the readings, and then get to the podcats and supplementals, I can get it all done. Think the problem was just that I hadn't prioritized.

Last night was a no go for me. Couldn't make the chat 'cause we were in Lykens looking at a house. Still a bit sleep deprived as well- seems that four week old kittens want fed every two hours, and can't tell night from day. Can't tell yet if she's going to be able to see, so we might end up with Daredevil cat.

Just glad to get into the groove. Hope the same's happenin' for everybody else. Signin' off

Okay, think I got these assignments down. Open Internet Scout Portal Account, write discussion topic for LIS 2600 about tech good or bad, post blog. If I keep it that simple I may keep my grip.

As I mentioned in one of my discussion board responses (can't remember which board or response to what) I've officially passed multi-tasking, which is normal, and gone to overload, which I've never done before. Work pops up a new assignment, asked for by a senator, that has to be done yesterday, we're looking at a house tonight, I forgot to take my textbook home from work, so I'm speed-reading as I work. And a great "GGGAAAAAAKKKKKK!!" shall sound from the rooftops. Just keep telling myself that I can do this, done it before, do it again.

So, to top everything off, I came home last night, and there's a tiny kitten sitting in the middle of our alley, with her eyes all gunked up and her mom nowhere in sight. So I bring her in to our back porch so she doesn't become road pizza. Figured I'd see if she'd make it, 'cause she wasn't lookin' too good. Couldn't tell how old she was, but we keep food on the porch for the colony of cats that inhabits the alley.

Anyway, my wife saw her. Next thing I know, I'm convincing the vet to let me bring her right in, and spending two hours in the office trying to read Discovering Computers 2006 while watching three kids out of the corner of my eye and trying to keep an eye on this cat to make sure she's still breathing.

Vet said the gunked eyes were a respiratory infection that had spread. She'll almost certainly keep the one eye, but she's not sure about the other- we won't be able to tell until they open. Yep, that's right, she's only four weeks old, and her eyes aren't open yet. Can't even tell if she IS a girl (though the wife named her Emmaline, so she better be). So we have a third cat, and are up every two hours to feed her from a syringe. Even my youngest at least gave me a solid four.

But she's a fighter. Think I'll try and use her as an example and fight my way through this homework, now that my "ventilating" is done. Later.

First and belated post

Well, here it is. Must keep repeating to myself over and over, procrastination is bad. Slowly booting myself back into proper academic form, though I have to admit that between work, house shopping, and the fact that I just finished my 198 page thesis and grauated a week ago, I'm finding it a tad tough.

What's up with this Kuhn guy, anyway? I get his point (I think), but frankly I've seen less academic prose coming outta the Yale Humanities Dept. Guess it's the blue collar in me coming out.

Complaints aside, I better wrap this thing up. Off to tag. Do we get free spray paint for this?
