Policing Issue in NI

So, how do I think Sinn Fein's gonna react to the PSNI issue in Northern Ireland? They're gonna roll over and take it, that's how. Doesn't matter how many meetings they have or how much they say they respect the Republican view. They already gave up on the Paisley issue, what's to prevent them from just giving in to the rest of the demands imposed by the Brits and their little doggies? So what happens after that?

South Armagh

In London and in Dublin
they pretend to speak of peace
They say give us your weapons
and we’ll make this bloodshed cease
But the south Armagh sniper
he’s heard their lies and double-talk before
He won’t be fooled or cheated anymore

The Armagh sniper
he hasn’t gone away
His rifles oiled and loaded
he’s just waiting for the day
So if the British government
should break their word well then
The sniper will go back to work again
I’m a-comin back boys

The way I see it unfolding right now is them rejecting the policing issue if the endorsement of MI5 is included in the package. SF is balking now at holding the meeting which is a sign they see what we have been seeing. A split if not corrected. There can not be a split, and they know this. My money is on no deal right now. Cross your fingers, or there's going to be war again and that will mark the end of Republicanism in Ireland.

Oh, I wanted to add that I think this was all a publicity stunt by Gerry to test the waters. He's using the lack of positive response from the DUP as a reason to scrap the special ard fleis.

I don't see them ever ending Republicanism in NI. They tried in '71, and we got the Provos. I don't see Adams pulling a publicity stunt either. I think he's going to roll over like a bitch, and he's trying to put a positive spin on it.

Some say the devil is dead, the devil is dead, the devil is dead
Some say the devil is dead, and buried in Killarney
More say he rose again, more say he rose again
More say he rose again and joined the Sinn Fein Party

Trust me, Adams is fully capable of performing just this type of publicity stunt. He's also capable of forcing a resolution he wants. I think he's too used to being the head of Republicanism to allow his power to be eroded by a split in the ranks.

When I said it would be the end of Republicanism, I was more referring to the inevitable crack down that would follow if the "terror" tactics resumed. The British, with the support of the entire world, would crust ALL Republicans SF and everyone else. They wouldn't need to worry about world opinion as they have had to in the past.

My main problem with Adams is that he used to be one of my heroes. Seein' him sell out the Irish people like this is a tad painful. Especially when he just takes a fucking like the newbie in Maximum Security.

I have no false hopes that the Brits wouldn't start a full out war in NI to try to get rid of Republicans. And it would be hella bad for the IRA and INLA of whatever branch. But I have a goodly feeling that they would also have a lot more people behind them. With 35 years experience behind them, I don't think even being driven underground would stop them from doing a shitload of damage.

I honestly do not believe the support would grow, and I actually believe support for armed struggle is far below that of the 70's. The reason? 9/11. Another reason is the fact that such a large majority of people north and south voted pro GFA which was essentially a blueprint for peace.

Yes, and now it's turning into a piece of preprocessed dog food. I think if the choice is between the Loyalist Gestapo and armed struggle the Provos will be back.

I'm of the belief that Loyalist terror will not be tolerated either. Not in the new world order of the European Union. War at Europe's doorstep? I think no.

It wouldn't be war. It would be legalized torture and murder, like it has been for 800 years. The leaders of the Union would just ignore it, and Amnesty would just whine about it.
