Through a glass, smartly

Haven't had anything post worthy lately, but ran across a series that I feel I gotta recommend. It's got librarian written all over it (no, not really. If you find a copy with librarian written all over it, call it to the bookseller's attention and get a new one).

Anywho, the series, and i use the term kinda loosely, is The Looking Glass War, and its associated comic Hatter M. The Mad Hatter of the comic is actually a secret agent for Wonderland, and is set loose in the real world to look for Alyss Hart, the princess of Wonderland who was betrayed by Alice. Tell ya, this guy's got more blades than a Cuisinart. Beddor's writing this format, as well, and Ben Templesmith's the artist on it, too, so ya know yer in fer some good pichers.

The book was a smash hit in the UK in '04, and has just recently arrived in the States. Frank Beddor is currently writing Seeing Redd, the second book of what's supposed to be a trilogy. Haven't picked up the book yet (it's still in hardcover), but from what I've seen of Hatter M, and the excerpts I've read, it's gonna be sweet.

Here's some links that'll tell ya a little more:

Hatter M #1 Review

Hatter M #2 Review

Here's a free issue of Hatter M
The Looking Glass Wars Trailer and Interview (yes, that's a trailer for the book)
And, lastly, the website, which has all kinda amusing goodies. Enjoy

This sounds really promising. I also want to pick up Alan Moore's upcoming X-rated version of Alice.

and Wendy and Dorothy- Lost Girls. I really want it as well, but I'm a bit put off by the $75 cover price. Saw it on Amazon, though, for $67 with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: The Black Dossier.

Oh, hell. I didn't even realize it had been published yet. I guess it would be kind of strange to request it as a X-mas gift.
